Vellum 4.0: Heading Your Way

Vellum 4.0 is here with all-new Subheads, fine-grained control for Headings, and a visual refresh for macOS Tahoe! Here’s what you can do with this latest release:

Level Up Your Subheads

Subheads now support four levels — each designed to coordinate with your book’s style. Add hierarchy to your handbooks, control capitalization and alignment, and choose how many levels to include in your TOC.

Tailor Your Titles

Love a Heading style but want to fine-tune? Use Heading Preset Settings to adjust spacing, scale your title, or switch alignment. You can also change chapter numbers to display as 3 or Chapter Three or even III.

Add a Touch of Glass

On macOS Tahoe, Vellum adopts Apple’s new Liquid Glass design. You’ll find bigger buttons, smoother sliders, and a floating sidebar — plus an icon that matches your selected appearance.

  • Add your social media profile for Substack
  • Terms like Chapter are now translated for Dutch and Portuguese
  • Chapter titles with multiple lines now break text symmetrically
  • The Legible style has been upgraded to use Atkinson Hyperlegible Next
  • Noto Color Emoji is a new font option for print
  • Access more recent files from the File menu

Vellum 4.0 is a free update. This version requires macOS Ventura or newer.
